A thief

Will a thief say he is a thief
She stood before him, he swears
Gorgeous like a heavenly nymph
And her heart she wore on her sleeve

He loves her, that is his crime
She loves him, he is her knight
He comes as a thief at the dead of night
She waits and waits past midnight

They look at each other in the eye
No word from their lips slips by
Night passes, the dawn alights
The sound of footsteps, it's time for good bye

He prepares to leave with his booty
Sweet memories and fragrance of beauty
He is stopped and charged with thievery
The maiden's heart he stole with sheer trickery

Will a thief say he is a thief
In the thick of night he comes
And robs her beloved
Of her peace and sleep!
