Well into the midst of the deep sea
Were stranded two daredevils
A brave couple who defied their age
Round the globe they set out to navigate
He is the captain of his ship
He is the master of the sea
Howsoever dark and wild it may be
Fear comes nowhere near him
A distress signal when it was picked
An air sortie located from where it emanated
Hundreds of nautical miles it was from his ship
Sea was turbulent and its waves menacing
Was it merely a call of duty
Or his conscience was stirred deeply
He risked his life and that of his team
And rescued the two souls from the wild and dark sea
We salute the hero such as he is
His will, grit and conscience, what an example it is
Against odds what a marvel accomplished successfully
History of sorts was written on the face of the Pacific!

ReplyDeleteDear Ram,This special person is a captain of a merchant navy ship. He is an Indian and his family stays in Delhi. The account given in the poem is of an actual incident which was covered widely in the leading newspapers.
