Stitched

With time a thing wears out
And needs stitches and patches
So it is with an institution
With improvisations and no matches

New institution may take its place
Old one dismantled or consigned to flames
Antiques do have value, but not all
But they occupy your mind and place

Institutions over time become big and bigger
They accumulate fat at unwanted place
An old and white elephant they become
Who guzzle much but there is no gain

Trim or prune a thing of use
As it flowers and before it turns grey
But it has to be later cut and removed
To make place for something new

Purpose and plans undergo change
Priorities never remain the same
Let the old retreat with dignity
When young they roared and had their day!

  1. The Grand old party of India - The Indian National Congress - had become gross overweight ugly obnoxious and corrupt. It has been cut down to size by the electorate in the last elections. Hope it learns from this experience to become lean & mean and hungry outfit and energetic like a gazelle for facing the challenges of the future !
