Love of the heart

As love the parents
their first new born
he loved a small puppy
abandoned by some stray dogs

He grew into a man
and the puppy into a dog
he was chided by his own
but loved by the dog

Success is measured
in wealth and power
no riches it can bring
the love of the heart

He distanced from those
who loved him not
one came closer to him
it was none but his dog

The two always move together
but how long will it last
the dog has lived its years
and it shall be nursed to the last

What would be thereafter
when one whom he loved
his child and companion
leaves him to take a new birth

He shall not be alone
with love in his heart
another puppy in his life
he shall raise into a dog!
