Earth shakes

What promise can I make
and with what authority
the ground on which I stand
even that sinks under me feet

When the earth shakes
and who can stop it
the destruction follows
and misery in its wake

Man is vulnerable
and everything he makes
what is a quake, but
a deep breath the earth takes

Human will is stronger
than any quake
it builds and better
what quake shall raze

Lives are lost
heavy are the hearts
who mourn the loss
full of sorrow and grief

What happened was sad
and beyond comprehension
let's us all pray and do our bit
so that they may stand who feel devastated!
