Understandig friendship

Mock not your enemy
and ignore not your friend
lest you enrage the enemy
and walks out your friend

Friends strive together
towards a distant goal
but they scatter far and wide
as they slog and score

When one is successful
it makes others jealous
and it's more evident
when they strive together

One pulls the other down
his smile turns into frown
such is the human nature
that it makes friend a clown

When friends espouse a cause
and take different paths
differences they must resolve
otherwise their friendship may not last

They remain good friends
who keep some distance
while each goes his own way
a helping hand they extend!
