Freedom from bondage

The wait was long
with bated breath
and heavy heart.
Why man suffers
who did no wrong
what is willed
that comes to pass.
Mist has cleared

there comes a new dawn
sun has risen
bright and warm.
Ring again the new year
to make a fresh beginning

when an innocent soul

can now breathe free.
Those who walk free

from the very beginning
how shall they know

what the freedom means?

Ask them who were caged
and had to struggle hard for it
